John Wooldridge has been named the new editor-in-chief of PassageMaker: The Trawler & Ocean Motorboat Magazine. Wooldridge joined the magazine in January as executive editor after serving as managing editor for Yachting and Motor Boating magazines.

Wooldridge takes the helm from Bill Parlatore, who will begin edging toward retirement by stepping back from his overall responsibilities at PassageMaker and moving into a new role as founding editor-at-large. In 1995 Parlatore and his wife, Laurene, started the magazine, now owned by Dominion Enterprises, the parent company of Soundings Publications.

“As a lifelong boater and cruiser, I am thrilled at the chance to work more closely with our readers and with the expert staff of this highly focused, well-defined publication to further the growth of our distance-cruising lifestyle,” Wooldridge said in a statement.

“PMM defines and leads this marine industry niche, and continues to grow and prosper in these tough economic times,” publisher and general manager Rob Dorfmeyer said in a statement. “Both the print and digital editions of PassageMaker and the in-person Trawler Fest event series are the leading source of industry knowledge and information for our growing magazine and online communities.”
