Raritan marks its golden anniversary

Posted on

Millville, N.J.-based Raritan Engineering is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Raritan introduced the dual-action, manual marine toilet. The Model PH also was one of the first products to be mass-produced as a large, injection-molded part.

In the 1960s, a time before pump-out facilities and discharge regulations, Raritan introduced a waste treatment system called the electrochemical chlorinator. By early 1970, the company partnered with Diamond Shamrock and began distributing an onboard sewage treatment system called the Lectra/San.

Today, Raritan is a leading producer of U.S. Coast Guard-certified Type 1 marine sanitation devices.
