Boatbuilder assets to be sold at auctionPosted on
A public auction of the assets of Vivian Industries, builder of VIP boats and boat trailers, will be held Sept. 19 and 20 at the VIP plants in Vivian, La.
The auction was ordered Monday by federal Judge Stephen Callaway, from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Western District of Louisiana.
Vivian Industries filed for Chapter 7 in March. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy case does not involve filing a plan of repayment. Instead, the bankruptcy trustee gathers and sells the debtor’s nonexempt assets and uses the proceeds of such assets to pay holders of claims.
The first day of the auction will feature the boat molds and the manufacturing equipment used to make boats, according to auctioneer Danny Lawler. The second day will focus on the trailer plant and the upholstery departments. All items are sold “as is.”
Vivian Industries manufactured fish and ski boats, runabouts, deck boats and center console boats.
