Seattle dealers holding summer boat show sale

Posted on

Faced with the struggling economy and its impact on boat dealers in the region, organizers of the annual Seattle Boat Show are hosting the first Seattle Boat Show Summer Sale Aug. 8-10 at Qwest Field’s north parking lot.

The event features 250 new and used boats on trailers from 50 dealers. Leaders of the Northwest Marine Trade Association, owners and producers of the boat show, voted to underwrite the entire cost of the sales event to support dealers in Washington who saw sales drop as much as 59 percent in June.

For the first time in its history, NMTA will dip into its reserve fund to pay for the event, as opposed to collecting funds from dealers based on square footage rented. NMTA says this will allow dealers the best opportunity to sell boats and clear out new and used inventory.

The event also creates a tremendous buying opportunity for consumers, according to NMTA president Michael Campbell.

“With 50 dealers competing for your business, there is no better time to buy a boat,” Campbell said in a statement.

As an incentive, any person who buys a boat at the Summer Sale receives a $200 gift card from West Marine.
