Indiana boat show sees attendance bump

Posted on

The Michigan City (Ind.) In-Water Boat Show, which ended Aug. 24, saw a 7 percent increase in attendance this year, with 19,766 people coming to the four-day event.

“We had perfect weather during the setup week, and I think that put everyone in a good mood,” said show manager Ken Alvey. “By the time the show opened, the exhibitors were upbeat and ready to sell boats. It is essential these days to have a positive attitude in order to get visitors into the buying state of mind.”

The show included the renaming of the Michigan City Port Authority Building in honor of Hartley Job, an organizer of the first Michigan City In-Water Boat Show in 1980.

The show returns for a 30th year in 2009 and is slated for Aug. 27-30.
