Aluminum boat sales decline slows in SeptemberPosted on
Data for sales of aluminum boats in September showed a second consecutive month of slower declines, according to preliminary reporting.
These statistics include 26 early reporting states that represent approximately 62 percent of the national market.
Fiberglass boats in the 14 to 30 foot segment were down 38.7 percent for the month.
Aluminum boats sales fell in September by 15.7 percent. Fourteen of the 26 reporting states posted single-digit declines or better.
PWCs posted a dramatic decrease of 40.7 percent in the month. This decline could be overstated because of unusually high numbers last year at the same time.
Retail sales for new boats in September continued their decline. Fiberglass sales remained soft, while aluminum results were a welcome relief from the steep declines earlier in the year.
