Comments sought on Pacific fishing ban

Posted on

The National Marine Manufacturers Association issued an Action Alert to help prevent recreational fishing closures in areas of the Pacific.

NMMA says anti-recreational fishing groups are pressuring the Bush administration to ban angling in thousands of square miles in the central Pacific. The association is asking members to remind government officials about the importance of angling and boating access, and why it is improper to close off huge areas to recreational fishing when “there is no scientific justification for doing so.”

The White House is taking public comment until Oct. 26. Click here to send a comment.
