ISS hands out design, leadership awards

Posted on

The International Superyacht Society recently awarded its annual International Superyacht Design Awards, as well as its Award for Leadership, ISS Person of the Year and ISS Excellence in Innovation.

Each year, ISS honors yacht builders, designers, interior designers, naval architects and stylists selected from a list of five finalists in each of five length categories. In addition to awards given to three power yachts and two sailing vessels, a best interior award is given for one yacht selected from either the power or sail finalists.

Finalist selections are the result of an annual worldwide membership voting process; being nominated and then selected as a finalist is a source of pride as the voting system is the direct result of input from one’s peers.

ISS also presented its leadership award to Alice Huisman of Royal Huisman Shipyard. The award honors an individual or company whose work and commitment have contributed to the growth of the superyacht community.

This year, the society’s board of directors agreed that the trade organization would further acknowledge the accomplishments of the industry’s most forward-thinking and committed individuals and businesses. The first award, the ISS Person of the Year, was presented to John Dane of Trinity Yachts. The second award, ISS Excellence in Innovation, went to Agrimond for its Dragonfly Water Treatment System.
