METS officials pleased with this year’s turnout

Producers of the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam say the show ended yesterday on a high note in terms of attendance.

The 18,485 attendees at this year’s show are down 6 percent from the 19,764 who came to the 20th anniversary show last year. However, 2008 attendance was up 10 percent over 2006.

METS 2008 exceeded our expectations in terms of visitor numbers, which is an optimistic sign that the leisure marine industry is determined to do its very best to weather the current economic storm,” said product manager Irene Dros, in a statement.

Next year’s show is scheduled for Nov. 17-19

In related news, Ronstan won a DAME award in the Deck Equipment, Sails and Rigging category for its Series 40 Orbit Blocks.

Intended for use on small sailboats, the Series 40 Orbit Blocks use Dyneema rope link heads and other fiber-reinforced components to achieve a high load-to-weight ratio.
