Michigan boating conference slated for December

Posted on

The annual Recreational Boating Educational Conference for Michigan’s marine industry leaders will be held Dec. 3-5 in Bay City.

The event will include presentations on economic issues and retail trends affecting marinas, as well as working waterfronts and water access issues.

“Access to water is key to boating,” Michigan Sea Grant Extension educator Mark Breederland said in a statement. “Our session will give an overview of the national context for working waterfront and water access issues and discuss the status of these issues in Michigan.”

John Austin, executive director of the New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan, is also scheduled to speak at the conference. He will discuss Great Lakes resources in a regional economic context.

The conference will also include a half-day workshop on tips developed by the Michigan Clean Marina Program.
