Jake Fish is taking over communications duties at US Sailing following last week’s departure of Marlieke Eaton.
Eaton sent out an e-mail last week to inform industry colleagues that she is leaving the organization to move across the country, and then overseas for her husband’s next U.S. Navy duty station.
“It’s been a great six years and I’m sorry to leave such a great organization,” Eaton said in the e-mail.
Fish, who Eaton says has “a wealth of experience in public relations and sports marketing,” can be reached at JakeFish@ussailing.org or (401) 683-0800, extension 614.
Hellier Yacht Sales Inc. named Mark McLeod executive vice present and general manager.
McLeod brings more than 12 years of experience in sales, marketing and management in the sailboat industry, as a yacht broker and manager at Connecticut boat dealerships. Hellier says McLeod’s most recent managerial experience in the motorcycle industry provides him with a new perspective that will play a pivotal role as the company expands into fractional yachting and concierge service programs.
Rick Dieterich will assume the role of vice president of sales. He has been with Hellier as a broker and manager for almost five years, where he has led the team to reach the top position in new sailboat sales for Island Packet in Connecticut and the Northeast, the first NMMA-certified dealership in the U.S., and top service awards. In addition to Dieterich’s experience in the marine and auto industry, he also served as a Navy submariner.
“Rick and I have known each other for years and worked together extensively in the past on deals, open houses, boat shows, and other marine industry ventures,” McLeod said in a statement.
