Annapolis-based e-Merges.com upgraded its Web-based service that lists boat owners from around the country, allowing marine businesses to better target their marketing to potential customers.
The second-generation service, www.BoatOwnersList.us, which replaces the earlier version called “Captain Hook,” launched two years ago, allows companies to narrow their direct marketing by boat category, make and location.
Yacht brokers, marina owners, manufacturers, insurance agents and real estate sales professionals can use the Web site to create and download customized mailing lists of vessel owners. The database features more than 7 million owner records covering all 50 states, ranging from canoes and kayaks to sailboats and powerboats.
“Any organizations that sell to watercraft owners can customize their own direct mail lists with just a few clicks and download the vessel owner database to their desktop in less than 30 minutes,” said Shawn Harmon, president of e-Merges.com.
The newer version also offers built-in customer relationship management software so marine businesses can store records online, print address labels, merge documents and make notes on each sales prospect, according to Harmon, who spoke to Soundings Trade Only this morning. Harmon said this is especially useful for small businesses that can’t afford to buy their own management software.
“You don’t need special software to manage the information.”
