Maine wants to establish no-discharge zones along some of its coastal waters.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency received a petition from the state requesting a determination that adequate pumpout facilities are available for waters of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, and Wells.

Comments on this proposal to establish a no-discharge zone for those waters can be submitted until Jan. 12. Information on this proposal appeared in the Dec. 12 Federal Register.
