R.I. boat show focusing on affordable boatsPosted on
Producers of the Providence Boat Show are taking steps to help Rhode Island boaters deal with the challenging economic times.
The Jan. 29-Feb. 1 show will feature family cruising and fishing boats, as well as small sailing craft, personal watercraft and inflatables. There will also be hundreds of exhibits offering gear, technology, engines and electronics.
The emphasis is expected to be on affordable boats and equipment and services that will allow boaters to enjoy their passion at lower costs, according to the Newport Exhibition Group.
The event will include seminars on how to fish and cruise with greater efficiency; convenient and easy ways to register boats for the coming year; and career guidance for students and underemployed workers who might want to work in the marine trades.
