US Sailing symposium scheduled for next month

US Sailing will host its National Sailing Programs Symposium, “Changing Lives Through Sailing,” Jan. 7-11 in San Diego.

The symposium offers sessions on a range of topics, from the basics of starting a sailing program to optimizing an already successful program. Joni Palmer, of the U.S. Naval Academy Sailing Program, will deliver the opening keynote address on “The Faces of Sail Training.”

Other speakers include U.S. Disabled Sailing Team/AlphaGraphics coach Betsy Alison, offshore sailor Dawn Riley, racing rules guru Dave Perry, US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Committee chairman Dean Brenner, and Olympic gold medalist Anna Tunnicliffe.

In addition to the seminars, workshops and panels, US Sailing’s Training Committee and Community Sailing Council will honor recipients of several national awards and community sailing accolades.
