California marine retailer shuts its doors

Posted on

After 62 years in business, Cope & McPhetres Marine is going out of business.

The California-based marine retailer has three locations in Rancho Cordova and Rocklin.

Officials said the company started shutting stores in the second half of last year as the impending recession took its toll on the recreational boating industry.

Cope & McPhetres stores in California, Nevada and Washington sold and serviced new and used power boats, according to the Rancho Cordova Post.

The company, on its Web site, is advertising a going-out-of-business sale and says all inventory must be liquidated.
