Defender Industries posts record salesPosted on
The economic downturn doesn’t seem to be affecting Defender Industries. The Waterford, Conn.-based marine equipment and accessories supplier reported an 11.3 percent sales increase for 2008.
The company said 11 months set all-time sales records. And 2008 was Defender’s fifth consecutive year of record sales and its seventh consecutive year of solid growth, according to executive director Al Knupp.
“It’s really about our people,” Knupp told Soundings Trade Only this morning. “Our people take such great care of our customers. It’s really not magic. We’re still doing business the same way we always have.”
With sales up in 19 of its 20 product categories and margins improving, Defender is investing in additional staff, systems and inventory.
The company does not divulge actual sales figures.
