Groups launch trailer certification effortPosted on
The NMMA’s Trailer Certification program and the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers are launching an effort enabling boat-trailer makers to achieve NMMA Certification and NATM Compliance Inspections in a single visit by an NATM Inspector.
Beginning with 2010 model-year trailers, the joint certification program is aimed at increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness for trailer manufacturers.
“Creating a joint program with NATM allows us to focus on the best interests of our boat-trailer manufacturer members,” says Robert Newsome, NMMA director of engineering standards, in a statement. “Given the shifting economy, we’re all looking for new ways to save time and money, and by simplifying the trailer inspection and certification process we’re able to do that.”
Trailer manufacturers looking to enroll in the inspection program should contact Newsome at (312) 946-6275 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
