IMBC reports boost in registration

Organizers of the International Marina & Boatyard Conference expect higher attendance at next week’s event despite the economy.

Early registration for IMBC, scheduled for Jan. 25-28 in Fort Lauderdale, has increased 10 percent compared to last year. The Association of Marina Industries and the American Boat Builders and Repairers Association, co-producers of the event, expect a substantial increase in attendance once all the numbers are tallied.

“The level of support from this year’s show sponsors and exhibitors, given the economic challenges our industry is facing, is very encouraging,” said James Frye, AMI’s president and chairman, in a statement. “This is evidence that investing in professional networking and continuing education are still, if not more, important during these challenging times.”

In other news, organizers announced that Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) will attend the opening reception to meet with participants and talk with attendees about issues important to the marina industry.

Preregistration for IMBC is available until Friday, after which tickets may be purchased at the show. For information, call (401) 682-7334.
