Mass. MTA names new vice presidentPosted on
Russ Vickers was elected third vice president of the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association.
Vickers previously served on the organization’s board of directors for a three-year term. He owns and operates two marine businesses in Salem — the Salem Water Taxi since 2001 and Hawthorne Cove Marina since 1993. Between the two, he has 350 moorings and slips in Salem Harbor.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve this statewide organization in a leadership capacity,” said Vickers. “Our industry has been hard-hit by economic times, and now more than ever is the time for leaders to band together to do all we can to advocate for boating and the boating industry in this state.”
In addition to his work with the MMTA, Vickers serves as chairman of The Salem Partnership, a public/private partnership between the city and major businesses and institutions. One of his initiatives has been planning and securing support for the expansion and redevelopment of Salem Harbor and its Designated Port Area.
