Mass. waterfront property available for lease

Posted on

The town of Scituate, Mass., has cleared the way for private investment in Scituate Marine Park to preserve the harbor’s maritime heritage and provide recreational, commercial and public access to the waterfront.

The boatyard portion of the property will be leased from May 15 to Oct. 15, and an additional 33,800 square feet from Oct. 16 to May 14, 2010 for offseason boat storage. The successful bidder will have the opportunity to lease, for up to 30 years, the boatyard area, including a new pier capable of supporting a 35-ton Travelift, and to construct a new vessel servicing facility on the premises for its exclusive use.

The number of slips will be increased to more than 100 after scheduled dredging later this year, with additional dock space for transient and commercial vessels.

The public will also have access to town-managed facilities, including a newly expanded marina/maritime center, a year-round harborwalk along the water’s edge, a seasonal outdoor picnic area and a “cartop” canoe and kayak launching area.

For information, contact the town administrator Rick Agnew at ragnew@town.scituate.ma.us or (781) 545-8741.
