Michigan marina upgrade continuesPosted on
The Grand Haven (Mich.) City Council approved the second phase of a nearly $2 million dock project at the city’s municipal marina.
The first phase of the project involved replacing the marina’s 31 fixed docks, which were more than 35 years old and deteriorating, according to a report in the Grand Haven Tribune. That work was completed last spring.
The second phase includes removing rocks and bringing the walkway in along the 40 floating docks. The floating docks will then be able to extend farther into the water. The work is scheduled to begin after the 2010 boating season so it can be completed by spring 2011, the newspaper reports.
The city is splitting the cost of the entire project with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
