Bellingham builds megayacht stopover in San Diego

Posted on

Bellingham Marine has designed and built a new marina for visiting megayachts seeking temporary berthing on San Diego Bay.

Fifth Avenue Landing, located near the San Diego Convention Center in the heart of the downtown district, is a 12-slip dockage facility that can accommodate yachts to 300 feet. It offers complimentary concierge service for owners and crew, complimentary wireless Internet, free parking, secure and controlled access, and black water pumpout facilities at each berth.

Because the site is subject to tugboat wakes, a heavy-duty dock design with “glu-lam” beam walers was instituted, according to Bellingham. Extra-wide fingers were used, and each was detached from the main walkway to allow independent movement. The dock system also is higher than standard for easier access to yachts.
