Three editorial staffers were promoted at Cruising World magazine, including Mark Pillsbury to editor-in-chief.
Pillsbury began his career as a reporter and editor for daily newspapers in Massachusetts. He also served as editor and publisher of Mass High Tech, a business-to-business weekly. Pillsbury, his wife, Sue, and two daughters hail from Nahant, Mass., but since joining Cruising World as senior editor in 2005, hes split his time at home by living aboard his sailboat in Newport, R.I.
Mark is well-respected within the marine industry for his fairness, his understanding of industry challenges, his technical knowledge, and his integrity, said Sally Helme, group publisher of Bonnier Corp.s Sailing Group, in a statement. Our readers can relate to him because he is one of them, a cruising sailboat owner who wants nothing more than to go sailing.
Cruising World also promoted managing editor Elaine Lembo to deputy editor. She will take on expanded writing assignments and a more direct role in working with contributors. Sue Fennessey, who has been with the magazine since 2004, takes over as managing editor.
