MBIA honors Pride of Michigan captainPosted on
The Michigan Boating Industries Association will present its 2009 Mayor’s Cup award to Lt. Cmdr. Luke Clyburn, captain of the Pride of Michigan.
Clyburn is founder and president of the Noble Odyssey Foundation, which supports the training of the Great Lakes Division Sea Cadets. MBIA says Clyburn has a long history of training Sea Cadets for successful careers in the Coast Guard, Navy, Merchant Marine, government, education, naval architecture and sciences.
“Lieutenant Commander Clyburn has made tremendous contributions to boating in Michigan,” MBIA president Van Snider said in a statement. “We salute and honor him with this award and a well deserved thank-you.”
The award will be presented Feb. 20 in conjunction with the 51st annual Detroit Boat Show.
