New how-to books released

Posted on

Ed Sherman from the American Boat & Yacht Council and David Gerr from the Westlawn Institute of Technology have written new technical books for marine professionals and boaters.

Sherman, ABYC instructor and curriculum director, released the second edition of “Outboard Engines: Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair.” It features full coverage of the new 4-strokes, conventional electronic and direct fuel-injection systems, oil-mix systems in the new clean 2-strokes, and more. It provides step-by-step directions for all common procedures, and covers every major brand of 2- and 4-stroke from 2 hp to 300 hp.

“The Boat Mechanical Systems Handbook,” by Gerr, Westlawn’s director, provides design and installation guidance for each major mechanical system. It includes guidelines and real-world interpretations of ABYC and European standards.
