Salt Water Sportsman marks 70 years

Posted on

Salt Water Sportsman magazine is celebrating its 70th anniversary this spring with a special issue that takes a nostalgic look back at the sport, including the 70 most important changes in the last 70 years.

“It’s amazing to see how much our sport has changed in the past seven decades,” editor in chief John Brownlee said in a statement. “Looking back through our archives is like taking a history class in saltwater fishing. It’s all there.”

The anniversary issue will also include thoughts from the most recognized names in fishing: Rip Cunningham, former editor-in-chief and publisher of Salt Water Sportsman; Spider Andresen, also a former publisher and a renowned angler and TV host; Mark Sosin, a TV personality and veteran outdoor writer; Lefty Kreh, one of the world’s most famous fly fisherman and a longtime contributor; Al Ristori, a globetrotting outdoors writer; Barry Gibson, editor for 28 years; and more.
