Bay Bridge Boat Show reports solid resultsPosted on
The Bay Bridge Boat Show on Maryland’s Kent Island wrapped up Sunday with some positive results reported from exhibitors.
Attendance was off about 16 percent, but there have been reports of success from dealers, brokers and other exhibitors, according to producer U.S. Yacht Shows Inc., which did not provide specific attendance numbers.
The 27th annual show was held April 23-26 and featured more than 300 boats in the water, with another 100-plus on land. Tent spaces were full, financial institutions were on hand with money to lend, and boats were sold, the producer said. Also, vendors reported a larger regional draw than previous shows, receiving contact information from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.
“We are very happy with the support from the boating industry that helped to make this year’s show a success,” boat show manager Dee Newman said in a statement. “Our exhibitors are pleased to report boats were sold and many qualified leads received.”
Jimmy Dean of Dean’s Yacht Services said that while traffic was down from last year, he saw quality prospects who were serious about boating.
“I sold a great Novurania 20, have lined up quotes for several others, and had a recent buyer of a Selene 55 who is very excited about adding one of our Mercury Amanzi inflatable tenders,” Dean said in a statement. “We are very pleased with the show.”
Others echoed those sentiments.
“We remain optimistic that the show will prove to be a success. We were pleased with the traffic and the quality of it,” said Fred Azar, managing member of American Global Yacht Group, in a statement.
“The show brought in interested and qualified boat buyers and did a good job reaching people throughout the Chesapeake Bay region,” David Baumgartner of Riverside Marine said. “Very good activity.”
