MRAA seeks young industry leaders

Posted on

The Marine Retailers Association of America is setting up a new Young Leaders Advisory Board to represent the next generation of marine retailers.

The mission of the new group is to “contribute a fresh, unique resource of thoughts and ideas to the MRAA board for the continued efforts to improve and grow the association and the boating industry for the next generations.”

MRAA is looking for nominees for the advisory board, which will meet as an individual group twice a year and present ideas and findings to the MRAA board of directors.

Nominees can be up to 40 years old, must hold a position of significance in a dealership, and must have a minimum of five years of marine experience.

Nominations will be accepted through June 20. For information, contact Paul Nickel at Pride Marine Group, or click here.

I would like to nominate my husband, Sean Hamon. He has been an active participant in the marine industry for over a decade. He got his start as a competition slalom skier. He then began a career in the industry with Tommy’s Slalom Shop in Denver, CO working his way eventually to pro shop manager. From there, he became a pro shop manager for Cope & McPhetre’s Marine in Renton, WA which led to General Manager in Fairfield, CA for Ultimate Watersports. Currently he is the sales manager for Gone Fishin’ Marine in Dixon, CA.
Even more importantly, Sean is a man of incredible character and amazing drive. He possess a great gift for management that includes creative thinking and planning. He has a knack for looking toward the future and guiding unique ways to success. Sean’s knowledge of not only the industry but of best business practices would make for a tremendous asset to this Advisory Board.
