Redden Marine marks golden anniversaryPosted on
Bellingham, Wash.-based Redden Marine Supply is entering its 50th year in business and renaming its Alaska locations to reflect the parent company.
All facilities will now be known as Redden Marine Supply. Stores affected include facilities in Cordova (formally Redden of Cordova), Homer (formally Kachemak Gear Shed), and Anchorage, (formally VIP Distributing).
“Although these facilities have been part of our company for several years, we thought it was time to solidify the brand and extend information about our diverse marine selection throughout the northwest and Alaska,” president Randy Chiabai said in a statement.
The company was founded in May 1959 as John Redden Net Co. Inc. in Bellingham, as a manufacturer and distributor of commercial fishing nets. By 1968, Redden shifted its emphasis to selling netting as well as all types of commercial fishing and marine supplies.
Although the primary business is still commercial fishing and wholesale marine trade, the company provides products and services to the industrial and recreational markets in marine powersports and sports netting, along with offering more than 200 brands and 40,000 products that cater specifically to the marine industry.
