The textbook “Interior Design Methods for Yacht Design and the Boat Building Industry,” previously available only to students of the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, is being released to the entire industry.

Written by Lisa C. Hix, the illustrated book answers almost any question a designer, builder, surveyor, crewmember or serious boater may have about the accommodations and arrangements required for safe, comfortable and efficient crew and passenger spaces.

“This unique book is the only reference of its kind in the world, covering all aspects of boat interior design and human-factors engineering (ergonomics),” Westlawn director Dave Gerr said in a statement. “It is the closest thing there is to an architectural graphic standards for boat interior design.”

The book sells for $74.95 for members of the American Boat & Yacht Council and $89.95 for non-members. Visit the ABYC ship’s store online for information.
