Bronstein to assist Alaskan boatyard

Posted on

The city of Kodiak, Alaska selected Florida-based Marine Business Advisor’s president and owner Jim Bronstein to guide the opening of a new boatyard with a 600-ton Marine Travelift to serve the Alaskan fishing fleet and visiting boats.

“We are seasoned in running our marinas in Kodiak, Alaska, but operating a boatyard is a large undertaking,” harbormaster Marty Owen said in a statement. “Jim’s vast experience and industry knowledge is a tremendous asset for us and we are very pleased to have him provide us guidance.”

Bronstien has 25 years of marine business experience, including former president and owner of Rybovich in West Palm Beach, Fla. Since selling the boatyard in 2004, Bronstien has served as a consultant for the international and domestic yacht service and marine industry.

Kodiak is a major hub for several hundred of the area’s commercial fleet of fishing boats. However, the area has long been without a service yard capable of handling these large vessels. Scheduled to open this fall, the new boatyard will be able to haul out virtually the entire Kodiak fleet plus many of the cruising yachts that also frequent the area.

Glad to know that you’re NOT moving to Alaska — I know that you are merely advising this marine yard from your South Florida office.  Don’t go anywhere yet! I’m still your client and I need your assistance here!
