Exhibitors come out for nautical flea marketPosted on
Last weekend’s Annapolis Nautical Flea Market, benefiting Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating and the Naval Academy Athletic Association, was considered a huge success by organizers.
Held in the parking lot of the Navy Marine Corp Stadium, the inaugural event featured 60 exhibitors offering a variety of nautical clothing, cordage, decorations, electrical and electronic gear, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, compasses, clocks, boating hardware and more.
“We sold almost half of our inventory by one o’clock Saturday,” said Nancy Jacobs, a former liveaboard cruiser who brought her entire inventory of boat items. “This was the ideal way to turn all our old boat treasures into cash.”
Plans are under way for a second nautical flea market next year with expectations of growth in the number of exhibitors and area bargain hunters.
“We will look at the best available dates, will try to involve more community organizations, and will look to double the size of our event in 2010,” event coordinator Sheila Jones said in a statement.
