Hanse acquires Dehler brand

Posted on

The board of creditors for insolvent German shipyard Dehler accepted a bid from German sailboat builder HanseYachts AG to acquire its brand.

Hanse plans to produce midsize Dehler yachts at the plant in Meschede-Freienohl in Sauerland. Larger yachts will be manufactured in a separate production facility in Greifswald.

Hanse also plans to develop the Freienohl site as an exhibition and service center. The company says this location is ideal for creating Germany’s first water-sports center featuring a permanent exhibition of various sail- and powerboats, yacht insurance and financing, manufacturers of water sports accessories, sailmakers and other marine businesses.

This combined concept is expected to create several new jobs, the company said.
