New marina under way in FloridaPosted on
Construction has begun on the new Palm Harbor Marina in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Last week, the first of several hundred concrete pontoons that will make up the foundation of the floating dock system were poured. Marinetek North America, the company chosen to engineer and build the project, was on site to oversee the process.
“We’re very excited to be in the building phase of this project,” said Christopher Clark, president of Marinetek North America, in a statement. “We’re on schedule to make our deadlines and have the marina open in the fall.”
The marina is being completely custom-built with specially designed docks that have been engineered to provide a stable and safe platform for about 200 yachts up to 250 feet in length. The docks were designed with extra-wide gangways and finger piers, feature color-coordinated railing systems, specially designed cleats, in-slip pump outs, ample power and more.
The project will bring more than 100 jobs to the area, from concrete, steel and aluminum fabrication to supplying the necessary raw materials for the numerous components involved in the project.
“We’re currently working with 50 additional employees and expect to bring in more as the project progresses,” said Clark.
Palm Harbor Marina, formerly known as the Old City Docks, is owned by Leisure Resorts LLC, a division of Chase Enterprises.
