Brunswick wins lawsuit filed by Lund employees

Posted on

A Seventh Judicial District Court judge recently ruled in favor of Brunswick Corp. and New York Mills-based Lund Boats in a class-action suit brought against the company by employees who say they were deprived of vacation pay.

The suit was brought by 19 employees, representing more than 200 former and current workers, who claimed they were denied earned vacation time as policies were revised, the New York Mills Herald reported.

The time frame dates to 2004, after Brunswick purchased Lund from Genmar.

The court concluded that the workers knew, or should have known, that the vacation policy implemented by Brunswick was not the same as the previous policy under Genmar. The change in policy was communicated to the employees.

Ultimately, the court concluded that employees were not “harmed” by the Brunswick vacation policy.
