Posted on

Renowned sailor and naval architect Halsey Herreshoff will be the keynote speaker at the American Boat Builders & Repairers Association’s first Summer Symposium networking and social event.

The symposium will be held Aug. 3-4 at the historic OceanCliff Hotel in Newport, R.I.

“Those who own and work in the repair, service and boatbuilding industry, and affiliated marine-industry businesses, will benefit greatly from all the networking opportunities and seminars at the Summer Symposium,” ABBRA president Doug Domenie said in a statement.

Along with Halsey Herreshoff, the event includes a question-and-answer panel with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, a session on developing continuity plans, and a closing discussion from maritime law specialist Dennis Nixon.

Attendees also will be offered private tours of three New England boatbuilding and repair facilities: Hinckley Yacht Services, Newport Shipyard, and Conanicut Marine Services.
