Midnight Express will build boats for the Coast Guard

Posted on

Midnight Express Powerboats received a three-year contract from the Coast Guard to supply a progression of the builder’s 39-foot Interceptor models.

The contract, coupled with a recent large order from the Navy, allows Midnight Express to expand capacity in its Fort Lauderdale manufacturing facility. The work has allowed Midnight Express to retain its full complement of designers, engineers and workers as recreational boat sales continue to slump.

Providing law enforcement vessels has long been an important segment of the Midnight Express customer base. The company says it has shipped its Interceptors to police, military, customs and security units around the world. As the focus of drug and immigration enforcement becomes more concentrated, the company reports it is currently in negotiation with units in numerous nations.
