071609brewingtonTom Brewington was promoted from vice president to president of Unified Marine Inc.

“I have been searching for several years to find the right person to fill the position of president since Mr. Steven Taugher passed away in December of 2005,” CEO and owner David Nirenberg said in a statement.

Brewington worked for United Marine for seven years before leaving the company in 2002. At the time, he was vice president of sales and managed the company’s outside sales force.

He returned to United Marine in July 2008. In his recent role of vice president, Brewington has directed numerous positive changes related to business growth such as upgrading the management team through new hires and adding a team of territory field managers, according to Nirenberg.

Brewington also implemented numerous upgrades and increased space for research and development at the Newport, Tenn., property where United Marine relocated in 2006.

This month, another warehouse was added to house bulk storage, kitting and packaging and the manufacturing of Mighty Mite anchors. Plans are in place to increase light manufacturing for other products once needed machinery is purchased. With the additional warehouse space, total square footage will increase to more than 60,000.

Nirenberg will remain CEO, but all day-to-day operations will be handled by Brewington.
