Forty people attended the American Boat Builders & Repairers Association’s recent summer symposium, which was touted as a success by participants and sponsors.

“The overall mood at the event was one of camaraderie,” ABBRA president Doug Domenie said in a statement. “I continued to hear attendees comment on the networking opportunities and overall educational experience.”

Sessions at the two-day event, which took place last week, included an in-depth discussion on the economy, commentary on preparing for modern-day risks such as a flu pandemic and the approaching hurricane season.

The symposium concluded with private tours of three New England boatyards: Newport Shipyard, Hinckley Yacht Services and Conanicut Marine Services.

Perko’s worldwide rep force and field sales recently attended an all-day training seminar, focusing on its new line of evaporative emissions control systems and related products.

Representatives from Perko’s partners Delphi and Alfmeier were also on hand to provide detailed explanations about the design, use and installation of their carbon canisters and fuel tank valves.

“Our goal is to provide a complete line of products, including canisters, tank valves, fills and vents, to help boatbuilders comply with new regulations and assure that our entire rep force is up to speed on this new technology and how to best help our customers utilize it,” vice president of sales and marketing George Bellwoar said in a statement.
