Roundtable discussion set for Long Beach show

Posted on

A roundtable discussion among the pioneers of the West Coast sailboat industry will be held at the upcoming 41st annual Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show at Shoreline Village Marina.

This gathering of sailboat icons will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 12 on the marina green directly adjacent to the in-water dock displays.

Featured panel members will include Frank Butler, Catalina Yachts; Roger MacGregor, MacGregor Yachts; Dick Valdez, Columbia, Lancer and Mediterranean Yachts; Tom Schock, W.D. Schock Sailboats; Dan Welden, Harken; and Bill Hanna, Forespar Product.

Admission is free to all boat show ticket holders.

“This is really a very special occasion for the sailboat industry to have all of these pioneers of our sport together at one time,” said Bruce Brown, president of the Southern California Marine Association, who will moderate the event. “There’s more than 150 years of experience and stories waiting to be told. I’ll do my best to undercover as much of this knowledge and great heritage as time will allow.”

The 41st annual Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show begins its four-day run Sept.10. It is one of the West Coast’s largest in-water and outdoor boat shows featuring hundreds of new and brokerage motoryachts, cruisers, sailboats, fishing boats, performance sportboats, family trailerables, ski boats, pontoons, inflatables and personal watercraft.
