Cummins MerCruiser brings reconditioned engines overseas

Posted on

Cummins MerCruiser Diesel ReCon is bringing its lineup of factory-reconditioned marine engines to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

CMD ReCon’s 20-plus engine configurations have been available to CMD distributors to order for some time. But beginning in the fourth quarter of 2009, three of its most popular models will be kept in stock at a Cummins distribution center in Belgium, giving overseas dealers and consumers the ability to get boats repowered and back on the water faster and more affordably, according to the company.

Inaugural stocking will include 6CTA 430 bhp at 2,600 rpm; 6BTA 315 bhp at 2,800 rpm; and 6BT 210 bhp at 2,600 rpm. All are rated for intermittent and high-output duty cycles to fit a variety of commercial and recreational applications. All three are also International Maritime Organization emissions-certified by the American Bureau of Shipping and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and they are certified to the Recreational Craft Directive.

More engine models – such as the 6BTA 370 bhp, QSM11 660 bhp or 4B 150 bhp – may be stocked in Europe as market demand dictates.

One “takes” engines to Europe, NOT “bring” unless, of course, you are already in Europe and someone is bringing them to you.
