Evinrude/Mercury wins hockey game for diabetes research

Posted on

A benefit hockey match pitting the Oshkosh (Wis.) Ice Devils against a combined team of Evinrude and Mercury Marine employees raised close to $2,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Evinrude/Mercury team beat the Ice Devils, 7-3.

“What a great time and a great cause,” BRP/Evinrude vice president Roch Lambert said in a statement. “The Evinrude team had a great time playing with the Mercury guys, and it was well worth the travel to skate against a strong opponent.”

Sponsors of the Sept. 27 event included Evinrude Outboards, American Marine of Shawano, Crownline Boats, Mercury Marine, Cranky Pat’s Pizza, Oshkosh YMCA, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and Flair Flexible Packaging Corp.

Being an Evinrude dealer,  a Diabetic, and an avid hockey fan, I want to say thank you all for your great efforts. Wish I could have been there. Hopefully, someone will be able to make available a video on the internet, or maybe BRP or Mercury will make them available. I am sure you had fun doing it also. Every bit helps in the fight for finding a cure for diabetes. It is a shame the public only hears about the problems, and not about the good things you do like this. Again, many thanks from your dealers and the diabetics out here.
PS: We see a lot of comments on negative things. Where is everyones comments on these positive things that happen?

Office staff at our Mercury Dealership raised €7000 this September for Cancer Patient Hospice, care at Murmount Hospice, Cork, Ireland. They freefalled 10.000 feet, most of them for first time ever. There are good people in the marine industry, Kevin

I heard that BRP is getting out of the marine business in 2011 (meaning no more Evinrude). Can anyone shed any light on this? Will they still honor warraty claims?
