San Diego port joins superyacht group

Posted on

The Port of San Diego joined the San Diego Superyacht Association, a non-profit coalition formed to attract more superyachts to the region.

It was roughly a year ago that the San Diego Unified Port District began accommodating superyachts along the Embarcadero area between the Grape Street Pier and the San Diego Maritime Museum. Up to eight luxury yachts can be accommodated.

“We recognize the economic impact that superyachts have on our region and we wholeheartedly endorse the association’s effort,” said Stephen P. Cushman, chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners, in a statement.

The association is planning an advertising and marketing campaign as part of its effort to attract new business to the area’s yacht clubs and marinas.

“We’re grateful that our collective effort to attract yachts here, as well as make their arrival smooth and hassle-free, has been officially recognized by the Port,” SDSA president Paul Daubner said in a statement. “This partnership is a perfect example of San Diego’s business and government entities working together to improve the marine industry economy.”
