Volvo Penta receives 2008 ISO certification

Posted on

Volvo Penta of the Americas recently had its ISO certification elevated to the latest revision, ISO 9001:2008, after an extensive external surveillance audit.

“We were told it is somewhat unusual for the 2008 certification to be achieved on the first assessment, which was the case,” said Clint Moore, president and CEO, in a statement.

“During these difficult times, where we have all been forced to downsize our organizations, it is more important than ever that we maintain a steadfast commitment to our business management systems,” Moore continued. “As we emerge from the terrible economic storm, it will be essential to have sound systems in place to achieve a quality assured ramp-up. This ISO 9001:2008 certifications should reassure our customers that Volvo Penta is in a position to maintain its very high quality standards and business practices.”

Along with the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification, the company’s Chesapeake, Va., headquarters is also environmentally certified to ISO 14001:2004. Volvo Penta’s marine products facility in Lexington, Tenn., holds these certifications as well and is also OHSAS 18001:2007 certified for health and safety.
