Yamaha, Humminbird unveil product upgradesPosted on
Yamaha Motor Corp. and Humminbird recently announced upgrades to their products.
Yamaha says its 2010 VX Series WaveRunner will save consumers up to an additional 10 percent in fuel cost compared to previous VX models. A remapping of the ECU allowed engineers to reduce fuel consumption at both cruising speeds and wide open throttle, according to the company.
“Buyers in this segment want the lowest total cost of ownership while still having a fun and exciting time on the water,” said Scott Watkins, product manager of Yamaha’s WaterCraft Group, in a statement. “By remapping the engine, we’ve been able to reduce fuel consumption by 10 percent while also helping it burn cleaner with no reduction in horsepower.”
Humminbird announced the addition of Down Imaging sonar to its Side Imaging technology.
“Humminbird’s goal continues to be to provide anglers with the most innovative technology, and Down Imaging is the next step in that process,” said Dale Logue, product manager for Humminbird, in a statement. “Adding Down Imaging to Side Imaging, and our new SwitchFire traditional sonar, the opportunity to find highly productive fishing spots is unprecedented.”
Down Imaging presents picture-like images of the bottom, according to the company. Views are focused directly beneath the angler’s boat, giving a detailed look at structure and the water column.
