Evinrude distributor and manager dies at 69

European marine industry manager, consultant and marketer Willem Runge died Nov. 8 at his home in the Netherlands after a brief illness.

Runge, 69, joined Lindeteves-Jacoberg, Evinrude’s distributor in Amsterdam, after six years in the Dutch merchant navy, as sales engineer for the nautical department. He later relocated to South Africa as the sales and marketing manager and marine distributor in Johannesburg, promoting the sales of Evinrude outboard engines.

In 1984, he left South Africa and lived in Canada working as a consultant for Yanmar and remained actively involved in the marine industry until the end of his life.
