Florida’s oldest shipyard lays off its work force

Posted on

The Merrill-Stevens shipyard in Miami laid off the remainder of its work force, effective immediately, as it attempts to restructure financially.

Several sources at the yard confirmed the closure to The Triton newspaper.

No one answered the phone this morning at the shipyard.

Merrill-Stevens was established in 1885, according to its Web site, and is Florida’s oldest continuously operating yacht services company.
