MerCruiser offers bonuses to retain workersPosted on
MerCruiser hourly employees are eligible for incentives to remain on the job as the Stillwater, Okla., plant moves toward closure by the end of 2012.
Hourly employees can receive a $2,000 bonus annually if they participate in Program Project Completion, company officials told the Stillwater NewsPress newspaper.
The first bonus will be paid in January, with additional bonuses paid in January 2011 and 2012.
Mercury Marine decided to close Stillwater’s operations in September after union workers at Mercury Marine’s Fond du Lac, Wis., plant agreed to wage and benefit concessions.
Also last week, Oklahoma City attorney John Mac Hayes asked to turn an initial lawsuit again Brunswick Corp. into a class-action lawsuit.
The attorney told the newspaper he has been meeting with employees and spreading the word about the class-action lawsuit and how the company’s retention plan prevents hourly workers from getting their 2008 bonuses.
