VIDEO: Trade Only roundtable in Miami

MIAMI BEACH – A cross section of industry leaders met Wednesday night for the annual Soundings Trade Only Editorial Roundtable prior to the opening of the Miami International Boat Show.

Eight men representing the manufacturing, dealer, banking, accessories and electronics segments discussed some of the issues facing the industry. A recurring theme was the need to adopt a new model of doing business.

Roundtable attendees were Jim Coburn, National Marine Bankers Association; Bob Apple, Volvo Penta; Peter Truslow, EdgeWater Power Boats; Bill Yeargin, Correct Craft; Louis Chemi, Navico Americas; Darren Plymale, Galati Yachts; David Pugsley, Brewer Yacht Sales; and Bob Staehle, Kellogg Marine Supply.

    I heard nothing as to how the industry is going to address the pipeline management issue which is what cased the excessive glut of inventory. When are hte manufacturers going to get together and discuss this issue or are we going to forget about until we enter another crisis?
